This is the same parakeet I saw on the power line.

He came down and was eating grass seeds by the side of the road.

My lens can't focus closer than 3 feet, and I had to move back a bit to take this picture. He was totally comfortable sitting next to me.

Clearly this was a pet that either escaped or was released. I considered trying to catch him, but a) we have cats who would eat him and b) he was living his best life at Lake Apopka.

There have been about 362 species of birds spotted at Lake Apopka. It has become a haven for both local birds and those migrating through since it has an abundance of food and nesting areas in the protected wetlands.

This was taken on the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive.
